Mandatory Professionalism Module

All members who are not otherwise exempt from CPD for special circumstances (e.g., disability or family leaves longer than a year) are required to complete the mandatory professionalism module every two years, by December 31, in addition to other CPD requirements as outlined in the Qualification Standard.

The module, which is hosted on the CIA’s e-learning platform, includes the following required components:

• An introductory course called CPD – Instructions and Attestation 2022.
• Professionalism case studies: you must choose two cases to complete from the 2020, 2021 or 2022 catalogues.
• Required reading as defined by the CIA. A link to the readings is provided in the introductory course.
• A final attestation confirming that you have completed all aspects of the mandatory professionalism module. This attestation is also available in the introductory course and must be completed as the final step.
• A certificate of completion, which will be generated after you complete the attestation.

Note: Please allow 48 hours after completing your professionalism module for it to be added to your profile before submitting your CPD compliance statement.

Access to the professionalism module

You should have received an email on how to access the module from education@cia-ica.ca. The default username/password configuration is your email address used in your CIA member profile and your CIA member ID, which is available on the My Profile page (login required). If you have previously accessed the platform, you would have been prompted to change it.

If you have used the e-learning platform for other educational purposes, such as volunteer orientation, the Professionalism Workshop or the Practice Education Course, you will find that the CPD module has been added to your list of available courses. Your login information will remain the same as when you set it last.

If you cannot access the platform, please contact us to ensure that you have sufficient time to complete the module prior to year-end.
