Partners and networks
The CIA takes great pride in sponsoring and supporting key organizations at the forefront of advancing the actuarial profession in Canada.
Since its inception, the CIA has been a strategic partner of the Actuarial Students’ National Association (ASNA) and serves as the Grand Patron Sponsor of its annual convention. The CIA further supports ASNA by sponsoring three diversity, equity and inclusion-oriented scholarships, providing ASNA with webcast technologies to run their own education sessions, and hosting a joint end-of-summer event each year. This strategic partnership is founded on a shared goal: inspiring and educating the next generation of actuarial leaders in Canada. Together, we offer exceptional national-level opportunities to nurture future actuaries and facilitate their growth.
Recognizing the importance of promoting youth financial literacy, education and careers in actuarial and mathematical sciences, the CIA has a long history of collaboration with the Actuarial Foundation of Canada, providing both financial and in-kind support. This partnership plays a crucial role in building networks within the actuarial community and enhancing mathematical literacy among youth. It generally supports the CIA’s high school outreach strategy, particularly enhancing and encouraging Indigenous representation in the Canadian actuarial profession.
The CIA maintains relationships with a variety of international associations through its participation with and support for the International Actuarial Association (IAA), the global association of actuarial organizations. The CIA’s participation in IAA activities and collaboration with other actuarial organizations around the world ensures the development of the profession in the service of the public and that knowledge and best practices are available to CIA members. Developing, implementing and communicating its international priorities is governed by the International Affairs Council.
The CIA is proud to be a steward of leadership and sustainability as a supporting institution of the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative, a collaboration of companies and foundations across the finance and insurance industries that are dedicated to financial sustainability and addressing global environmental, social and governance challenges.
The CIA is dedicated to caring about people and the community and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. As part of its diversity, equity and inclusion work, the CIA sponsors and builds links to a number of actuarial networks committed to these values, including actuarial clubs across Canada, the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion and specific associations dedicated to diversity and inclusion, such as the International Association of Black Actuaries, the Network of Actuarial Women and Allies, the Sexuality and Gender Alliance of Actuaries and the South Asian Network of Actuaries.
